Natural Extensive Root System

The majority of plant species in their undisturbed natural environments form a beneficial association with mycorrhizal fungi. Unfortunately, sand/peat medium incorporated during construction is generally devoid of mycorrhizal inoculum, making them prime candidates for Geospores™ applications. Additionally, many modern BMPs damage or even destroy this mycorrhizae link. Fortunately, environmental science has discovered that reintroducing these organisms back into the soil helps to establish the necessary balance to produce a vigorous Earthscape.

GEOSPORES is a concentrated, fine material which improves soil structure, increases resistence to drought stress, and is easily applied. Geospores colonize plant roots, expanding into the surrounding soil to greatly increase the roots ability to absorb water and nutrients. This naturally promotes an extensive root system, thereby reducing the need to irrigate and fertilize, while also improving plant establishment and overall health.

How Do GEOSPORES Improve Plant Health?

Mycorrhizae have been naturally occurring in soil for 400 million years. Roughly 90% of the world’s plant species form symbiotic relationships with these beneficial endomycorrhizal fungi. Mycorrhizae are especially important for uptake of nutrients that do not readily move through the soil such as phosphorous and many of the micro-nutrients.

Unlike existing soil bacteria, Geospores remains dormant until it comes into close proximity to an active root. Once applied, a mycorrhiza (literally fungus-root) radiates out from the roots to form a dense network of filaments. These filaments form an extensive system of hyphae that grow into the surrounding soil and provide a variety of benefits for the plant. This elaborate network beneath the soil surface greatly increases the potential of the root system to absorb nutrients and water. It also binds soil particles together, improving porosity and the movement of both air and water within the soil.
